Laura Lappi

















Born in Finland and currently working in Brooklyn. Laura Lappi exploring the relationship between physical spaces, man-made structures, and the human mind - the psycho-geography of places. She is interested in observing and examining how architecture and spatial environments influence our perceptions and affect reality; in particular, focusing on the experience and emotional charge of different places and the fluid boundaries between reality and fiction.
Laura Lappi holds a BFA from the AKI Academy of Art & Design and Teacher of Fine Art in Willem de Kooning Academy in the Netherlands. During her bachelor studies, she participated in an exchange program at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. She been participating in residencies including Yaddo in Saratoga Springs, SÍM The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists in Reykjavik, Vermont Studio Center in Johnson and the School of Visual Arts in New York. She has been awarded grants from the Finnish Cultural Foundation, Frame Contemporary Art Finland, Arts Promotion Centre Finland and Mondriaan Fonds in Amsterdam.
Her work has been exhibited widely in solo and group shows internationally including Trestle Gallery, AC Institute, Knockdown Center, StarrSpace Gallery and Gramercy Gallery in New York; Riihimäki Art Museum, Galleria Uusi Kipinä, Galleria Titanik, all in Finland; Galleri Vest and SÍM Gallery in Reykjavik, Iceland; Kunstpodium T, Twente Biennale, Re:Rotterdam International Art Fair, Museum Hilversum and Museum De Pont, all in The Netherlands; Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm, Sweden and Green Papaya Art Projects in Manila, Philippines.
